It is important to know what the general tone of the BegerenColony.org Holonet wiki is and how one should conduct themselves within the wiki. The Wiki Etiquette touches base on the main points of etiquette.

Respect

All points of the BegerenColony.org forum guidelines are expected to be abided by on the BegerenColony.org Holonet wiki. One major point to emphasize is guideline #4, as follows:

"Members of the BC.org community agree not to post any material which is false, defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, discriminatory, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum. Any member who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an Arbiter or Admin immediately."

In addition to the BC.org forum guidelines;

  1. Wiki contributions
    Wiki users are expected to respect the contributions of fellow BegerenColony.org Holonet wiki users. A major point to emphasize is respecting record articles written by other users. Please keep edits to other users record articles to minor edits. i.e fixing spelling or grammar mistakes, fixing layout or wikicode issues, fixing broken links, etc. This is to say; you should not be rewriting another user’s character’s history, personality, etc.

Continuity

Although we are a roleplay community with many imaginative and creative members, it is our intent that general continuity with the Star Wars: The Old Republic canon — as related to in-game revealed lore as well as the larger Old Republic Expanded Universe lore — be considered in order to provide coherence. This does not mean that all player-created lore must be in canon — that is entirely counterproductive — but rather that lore provided by wiki articles should not clash with canon in such a major way that it greatly affects most other characters in the community, without careful consideration and the assent of other members of the community. For instance; if a player organization makes a claim that they own the planet of Voss or destroyed half of Alderaan, that would be a major break in continuity.

See BegerenColony.org forum guideline #2:

"The BC.org community together promotes a baseline continuity among its players to better foster a rich RP environment, set within the Galactic War following the collapse of the Treaty of Coruscant in a manner that allows the use of in-game content with RP (e.g. acknowledging the Dread Master Conflict). Any change to this continuity that would affect other players (e.g. an event that causes a geographical change on Balmorra) is expected to be given pause and considered carefully."

Style, content and structure

BegerenColony.org Holonet wiki articles can be taken to represent the BegerenColony.org community. As such, wiki articles are expected to be kept relatively grammatical and organized. This does not mean that that all articles must be perfectly edited and polished; this is untenable for our moderation staff and can lead to over-policing. Nor does this mean all wiki articles must be complete; it is understood that many wiki articles can be a work in progress over time. However, making sure that wiki articles generally conform to a loose standard of professionalism and readability is important.

The Manual of Style covers the guidelines for article creation — from the article’s writing style to it’s page structure, layout and template use.
