Ok, last post on this, then I'll stfu about it.

Revised Mako:

The blues don't quite match in this shot, as Mako's is highly reflective, and is picking up the overhead lights; in other conditions, they're closer.

At least they look like they're on the same team, without Mako's armor being the exact same set (as with the scalene).

Mako's done in black/blue now (the undyed Blue Scalene), though I'm still fooling around trying to find my final answer there.

But...picking one *did* allow me to get a matching bike, which I really, really like:

Now I just need to pick new pistols; I had a pair that were red and white, and looked reasonably good (I generally dislike all the pistol models in this game)--umm--Interstellar Regular's Blaster Besh.  I will probably use GR4-STs for her now.

This char (on my old server, and now this one, too) always ends up with the most outfit slots.  9 so far and counting (not as many as some of you have, I'm sure, but most of mine have 5 and only use 1).  I could get a red version of that bike, and use both armor sets, I suppose, and end up putting making into something neutral--a black/white outfit, or gray or such.

The very first set of armor I ever Just Had To Have (tm) in this game was the Gree scalene armor set.  I'd always pictured it on my first/primary BH char, Ar'elo:

Thing is, I've really come to like the outfit below, especially the hat.  I've loved this hat on her since I first got it years ago.  I've tailored multiple outfits around this hat, including this one, my favorite.  I like the way the cloth hat goes with the "scarf" element on the armor.  I've got Mako done in a matching color scheme, using Commander Viszla's armor (mostly).

I've been thinking of going with the blue scalene, but if I do that, I have to dye Mako's armor blue/black to match.  The scalene has going for it that it's blue, like her, doesn't look Mandalorian (she's not), and it's glowy, and that amuses me; but the red has the magic hat, and looks/is more individualized.

Which do you guys like better?

Still working on getting around to doing Star Fortresses for the Conquered Exarch Meditation gloves, but here's what she looks like now, with the Hallowed Gothic gloves and new hair:

A better shot of the gloves themselves:

Thanks for the tip; I really like these gloves, and had no idea they even existed!

Edit: fixed image links.

Roleplay Workshop / Dealing with the Alliance
« on: 02/16/18, 05:28:30 AM »
Since I'm a newcomer to this community, I don't have the personal experience to know how you all have dealt with the Eternal Alliance.  I saw a bit of discussion in the Schroedinger's Galaxy thread that touched on the Alliance, but I'm more curious to know how many fully accept it in their RP canon, how many have chucked it entirely, and how many cherry-pick bits and pieces.

Just curious, as I try to figure out my own stance and what it means for my chars.

Gah.  Got stuck doing homework this week; perhaps next week I'll be free.

Does anyone else like having lightsabers which match their characters' personality and background?

Yes, though I don't have screenies at the moment.

Sotekh Khai, my Egyptian-ish themed Marauder in my avatar, uses fancy golden lightsabers that match his color scheme: Descendant's Heirloom sabers, with yellow crystals.  In my mind, these are indeed heirlooms, from the time of Naga Sadow if not earlier.

Saaret Khai, my Assassin, is his twin sister, and the moon to Sotekh's sun.  She dresses in silver and black, and her dualsaber, the Assassin's Double Bladed lightsaber you get from a quest I think, is silver, with a white/grey crystal that looks silvery when ignited.

Their older sister, Thaavah Khai, who is much more sensible and down to earth than either of the twins, uses a Blademaster's saber with a traditional red Sith crystal at the moment, though due to a recent CM giveaway on the forums, she now has an Unconquered Defender's saber, which as an Immortal Juggernaut, suits her quite well and matches her red/gray theme.

Xaros Resh, my fallen Jedi Sentinel, dresses like a Sith (sinister black and silver armor), and uses Outlander Pummeler sabers (silver and black, with grips that resemble the texture on his armor) with blue/black crystals, intended as a mockery of the traditional blue Jedi Guardian crystal.

Cato Emerald, another fallen Jedi, is an Echani whose vanity and pride led to her fall; she uses, appropriately enough, a Dark Jedi lightsaber.  The blade is green, like her robes, her makeup, and her eyes.

Soravana, my Miraluka Sage, is NOT a fallen Jedi ; she uses a Consular's saber with a green crystal.

My other Jedi and Sith aren't played enough yet to determine what the proper saber for them is, but it's definitely something I think about once I begin to get a feel for the character.

Forgive the newbie question, but is the 6:30 time listed on the calendar PST?  It's not specified, as Dancer's Palace is.

I suppose one could be that succinct, but in my experience it doesn't make for a very effective argument. If you are the choir, then sure, a 40-minute preaching-to might seem a little long (though I think it is still useful to hear such arguments articulated).

In RPing The Star Wars as long as I have, however, I've found that the "Grey" concept of a Force-fence-sitter who is neither light nor dark is a very common and stubborn idea, often complete with an extremely frustrating (and weird) claim to moral superiority via neutrality. This video addresses that brainbug in articulate detail. It deals with what I view as a serious misunderstanding of the Force, and I thought it might help people see why I think that. :)

I can see that angle, having encountered my fair share of the same over the years.

It's long, but this dude gets it. Like, gets it. And explains and articulates it far better than I ever could. I'm not necessarily a fan of some of the esoteric PHI 101 stuff, but he does a good job of laying it out in more serviceable layman's terms and it thus serves as a useful frame of reference if nothing else. I highly recommend giving this a proper watch if you can spare 40 minutes.

Late to the party, but finally got around to watching this video.

I think it was about 39 minutes too long.

In short, "Gray Jedi" as typically used is a misnomer, sure, I agree, but that just took considerably less than 40 minutes to express.  Much of the confusion about Jedi and Sith and "neutrality" that exists among fans could I believe have been avoided had Lucas et al. talked about bringing harmony to the Force, rather than balance, which would have been much more in line with what they meant, I believe.  I certainly find it a much more useful idea; after all, there's no question of being "sorta" harmonious: things either are, or aren't, and there is no "gray".

Rather than Taoism, I would have used Zoroastrian or Manichean dualism, or (perhaps better) Theosophy and the associated Rosicrucian/Masonic syncretic orders (Golden Dawn and its innumerable offshoots, and Ordo Templi Orientis come immediately to mind) and their notions about White Adepts and Black Brothers to discuss the Jedi and Sith.  *shrug*

Sotekh, Saaret, and Thaavah are all half Sith Pureblood, half human, though their Red Sith mother looks nearly human herself, so all three of the kids look like pure humans.

I imagine that Harkun would get on them about that, or how their Sith mother is basically a nutjob, or both at once.

I.e.:  "No wonder your mother went insane...she couldn't bear the shame of her weak blood, which she's passed on to you."

To which Thaavah would bristle, but say nothing, as she's very conscious of status, and as an acolyte, Harkun outranks her.  She'd endure his taunts until she was out of the academy, and then forget him like the worm that he is.

Saaret would just look at him with her head tilted slightly, and remain silent.  A few days later, Harkun would wake up with tuk'ata innards covering his bed.  A single black flower would be placed in the middle.

Sotekh would laugh at him, a cold and cruel laugh.  When Sotekh becomes a Darth, he'll show back up and kill Harkun, slowly, laughing the same cruel laugh the whole time.

Bind to Legacy?  Nice.

Now:  are there any other headpieces that look like there's a veil over the mouth?  Much as I like that piece she's wearing, the camouflage pattern doesn't quite look right with the pattern on the shirt.

The Conquered Exarch's Meditation gloves also look really well suited for use alongside robes while still looking really well armoured. They do have the same problem of covering the trim though. :/

I like the Conquered Exarch's Meditation gloves a lot; thanks for posting that.  I didn't even know about them; can you still get them from Star Fortresses?

Until I can get some, trying these for a bit:
