"Veteran" player entering the RP scene.

Howdy! I'm Kaen a "veteran" player as I call myself for the little fact that my account has been going on ever since the game went F2P. Not like I'm any good at the game, I haven't even finished any storyline yet (I mean the TOR storyline, let alone any expansion either)

I can, however, call myself a veteran RPer. Been RPing all over the interwebs. Guild Wars 2, Tera, LOTRO, Neverwinter, D&D Online, Champions Online, Cit--you get the idea. Been Rping for a while and I loved the RP potential this game had. However I never actually got started on here, mostly due to how enthralled I was by the storyline. (I got a heavy case of altitis, I just love playing everything.)

Here In Begeren I have two characters which I can call my mains, so I thought I should try to get knee-deep into it and find something to be part of! I am actually looking for a guild too. So, hey! What's up?

Hiya and welcome. I'm a bit rustly on my greeting so please bear with me.

A good, neutral jumping off point is the Dancer's Palace weekly RP event which happens on Fridays at 9pm server time. It's held at Minnetes Stronghold. Usually all you need to do is ask for an invite or a key in game to get there. Also, there's a time widget at the top of the forum when you log in. It shows server time.

You will want to watch the calendar to your left too. It will show you up coming RP thingies. You can usually poke around and ask to find out whats going on and how to get in on it.

If you haven't done so already, you can join the in game channels to talk with other RPers. They are republicooc and imperialooc respectively. This will be the best way to get keys and invites for Dancer's Palace by the way.

I believe those are the main things and that they are accurate but someone correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't done this for a while.

Either way, welcome enjoy your time here. :whee:

Welcome, fellow NWN/Champions RPer! :cheer:

Hope to see you around - I'm not as active as I used to be, but I still love meeting new characters!

Also, be aware that the general timeline for in-game RP is several years beyond wherever you might be in the original class stories. This has huge ramifications for the setting and environment, so be forewarned - we are just starting to tackle the newest expansion storyline, Knights of the Eternal Throne!

Welcome to the community!

Imazi covered the basics!

Dancer's Palace is my stronghold, so if you want a key for Dancer's Palace, just whisper me when you see me on on any of my many toons (you aren't the only one with altitis - I have 25 characters)! Or call out in the OOC channels, after 9 pm server time for me and I'm probably on on one of the sides!

Look forward to meeting you in rp!

Hey there! Welcome to the server! Good to see more "new" people.

What kind of guild are you looking for? There is the GuildNet on this site which lists a few guilds, but I am seconding others who have said come check out the events! You will get to meet new people and see what guilds are out there. The channels Wymarc listed are also great ways to find RP. We do a lot of cross-guild and independents friendly RP here,  so no matter what you will be able to join in. :)
The Jedi: Bren (Archaeologist), Iirim (Healer), Zorru (Recruiter), Orans (Master), Aybekk (Padawan)
The Politicians: Varooth (Senator), Seirion (Aide/Spy), Ayrak (King)
The Mandos: Urziya (Rallymaster), Terr (Chieftain)
The Outlaws: Telen (Slicer), Majia (Pirate/Smuggler)
The Imperials: Athuuna (Agent), Zhekrazh (Lord), Z'ridia (Apprentice)

Appreciate the warm welcome! I was starting to lose hope when I saw the trolls at the Fleet Cantina. Yikes! Am I glad I was wrong. I'll log in to the game later today, so I'll be joining up on the channels on my main characters.

Good point on the KOTET expansion, by the way! The storyline I was managing for my own characters was based around the Sacking of Coruscant. As in, they were young when that happened. I can't honestly remember how long has it been, but it was supposed to put my characters in their 20s. How much time has happened since, now?

I'm sadly a F2P (tried to change that, but game wouldn't accept me buying CC outside the US) so I can only use these two characters until I abuse the achievement system enough to buy more slots or something else, hahaha.

My Republic character is a Trooper, however I'd like him to have close ties to the Jedi Order. Not because I want him to become a Jedi or anything, but because of his own personal storyline. My Imperial character is a Sith Warrior and I am looking for a Master/Apprentice kind of relationship with him. Though due to how he is in-character anyone willing to become his master would have to be willing to take a rebellious guy as his apprentice.

According to the "officialish" timeline (...I have disagreements with some specifics of it), we're about 22-23 years after the Sacking of Coruscant. That being said, I don't know many that have "official" ages for their characters? At least once your characters break 20, the age tends to matter less.

Put a gun to my head, I could probably come up with some ages (Lien's late 30's, Kyri and Quar are early 30's, Shaantil's mid-30's-ish-maybe...), but honestly, it just about never comes up.
Character List:

Pub side: Lien Orell, Kyri Orell, Shaantil (possibly Dumas), Norland, Everen (bank alt ATM), Quarashaa (Pub version of the real Quarasha), Merrant

Imp Side: Quarasha, Effet Ornell, Arazel, Zedney, Zhel, Asori-Alnas

I've been working with 21 years after, but that might have been without the timejump for KotET... so yeah! To give some idea, my character who was a new padawan during the Sacking is now in his mid-30's, and my character who's in his early 20's was still basically a baby during it.

Sorry for the double-reply, missed this part of it! We've just restarted our Sith/Empire weekly event, so you should be able to meet some people during that point. We've definitely got some interesting Sith there. For Trooper stuff there's a smattering of guilds and non-guild groups doing something similar! @Wymarc and other JC officers/hosts of tonight's event correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there was a call for more military types to aid the Jedi for the plot of tonight's Jedi Night, so you may be able to bring him to that and start to meet some people.

My main character, Iaera, was 18 years old during the Sacking of Coruscant. She's 39 now.

There's no KOTET time-jump. At most, there's a bit of squeezing and stretching of time for the KOTFE post-release chapters.

With the exception of the 5 year time jump in KOTFE, the time between expansions in-game is the same as out-of-game. Time within that expansion can be a bit fluid, especially given how many of the KOTFE chapters were released a month apart, but are implied in-story to take place back-to-back, or at least within a week or two of each other.

The reason some people are saying we're in ATC-23 instead of ATC-22 is that they a dev said "KOTET takes place ~6-8 months after the final chapter of KOTFE" and pushed the start of KOTET further back, instead of adjusting the KOTFE chapter timing to match that as well as match the-

...I'm ranting. Point is, tehre's no time jump, it's just that the 4-6 months we've seen in-game since KOTFE's last chapter is a bit more like 6-8 months more or less sorta kind wibbly wobbly...

Oh okay, makes sense. So it's more an issue of "we don't know what month this happened" than "we don't know what year". I meant more, taking into account, not time jump haha, bad wording.

As for guilds...

Jedi Custodum is, obviously, a very Jedi focused guild, but we do have a few hangers-on these days and have sort of absorbed a lot of Republic-side RP. Since KotFE-KotET has functionally disbanded the Jedi Order proper, Custodum has been one of the only organised groups of Jedi during the KotFE era. So, if you're looking to tie your character to the Order, you are certainly welcome to check us out!

I'm no longer active in the day-to-day running of Custodum RP, but say hi to Telline (Wymarc) or Dassalya if you see them!
