Three Columns Strike Back

The Jawas have been busy at work, toiling endlessly, and today they prove yet again their reputation to be able to fix anything:

Recent Posts Block Returns - It's a bit different that the bright and sunny avatar block we knew and loved, but it works with the new coding and feeds from the Recent/Unread posts section. It does NOT auto-update like the Recent Posts page does, but it'll give a quick at-a-glance of the most recent things like we remember.

In The Chatroom Block Returns - Nothing really spectacularly different here, the bugs got fixed and it's back online! We did make a few cosmetic changes. Nothing really spectacular. Spectacular.

Featured HoloNet Block - This is something some folks have been looking forward to for a long time. This is something the Jawas have been tinkering with for a long time. Now, on the frontpage, there will be a randomly displayed excerpt from a featured article on our HoloNet Wiki. This utilizes the Wikia API - which means that it pulls directly from the Wiki and echoes whatever changes people make to their pages - including if you change your Profile Image!

*****As of this moment, the Featured HoloNet Block only has four pages added to it, so it might look a little repetitive at first. More will be added throughout the next few days.*****

We're doing some small testing on the HoloNet Spotlight block throughout the next day or so. During the testing, if you happen to not see the images that show up with the article spotlight - don't panic. This is normal.

Greetings! I am The Artisan, your new friendly neighborhood Jawa Mastermind!

Over the course of the past day, the GuildNet App has been updated with slight changes in format as well as new options available to folks. New improvements include:

- Various formatting and layout changes.
- Added option to request a change to the GuildNet Link
- Added option to request updates to Guild Name, Guild Leaders and Officers
- Added option to request sub-forums to be added for your Guild Board
- The general requests text box in Part 5 of the Other Requests section now actually reaches the Admins!

We highly recommend any guild leaders go through the tool once more and see what changes they might wish to take advantage of. Since this is now updated, if you wish to resubmit a request to address the new options or a new general request (which now actually reaches us), we will work off that.

More changes to the GuildNet and GuildNet App will be upcoming in the near future! Thank you for your patience as we make new things happen!

Upgraded SMF core security.
Added support for back end preloading on our images.

Both of these are add ins that will be utilized for the Expansion, part of our 'Road to Nexus War', if you will.

KNOWN BUG:
Some people are experiencing a bug where, when you first arrive at the site, you appear logged out - even if you've told the site to keep you logged in.
FIX:
Clear your browser cache and cookies. The security update changed the cookie we use for the site.

... So apparently part of the upgrade to GuildNet 2.0 broke the Gallery.
The Gallery is currently unavailable, and we are evaluating what is needed for a fix.

Server hardware upgrade was performed early this morning - visitors should notice significantly increased load speed.
Minor database maintenance in response to chat fail that occurred last week.
Updated theme setting for all users - fixed a minor bug where the Jedi would appear to be wearing a pirate hat.
Updated GuildNet 2.0 notifications - fixed a minor bug where the Admin would appear to be sending the notifications.

Bug Fix: 'Auto-Join' GuildNet groups have been made less greedy, and will no longer hide their GuildNet boards from members who join.

Organizational update after approval of the Arbiters:
Added an Arbiter board for easier coordination between the administration.
Added an "Open Prompt" sub-board for the Storyboards section, specifically for those Open/Unconnected threads.

An 'Administration' section has been created for the Forum FAQ/Guides section.
The Admin Team listing has been expanded and improved.
An explanation of the Warning System has been added.

The lack of this information publicly has created an amount of confusion for some of our members. It became alarmingly apparent to the Admin Team that this information was not available recently during the course of our duties, and we hope this will be remedied with these additions.

The information was originally not available due to my own oversight - it had been provided to the Arbiters in the course of explaining their duties, but due to a difficulty in creating a tool for their use had been overlooked in adding it to the public eye. I take full responsibility and apologize for both the confusion and the damage that confusion has caused.

In preparation for the a player/Admin driven grant program and the upcoming Stronghold listing system, several changes have been made to the BC.org Sponsored Community Event listing and criteria. You can find the new information in the FAQ.

PLEASE NOTE that some of this information may be temporary as event owners/runners provide the Administration with changes.

Most notably, we are moving away from the notion of Sponsored Events consuming the entirety of the 'Night' they are placed on. This rebranding is to help stigma's of both our members in other time zones and players who may be inclined to create other events that may overlap. Tension on this subject has been an issue in the past.

We also hope that this rebranding will encourage the creation of more constant RP locations, as well as many other possibilities we are certain we have not yet explored.

Completed and implemented Stronghold Directory system from the Fundraiser Goals.

This system is built along the same vein, design, and style as GuildNet 2.0 in an effort to give flexibility to members as much as possible.

We are still making some minor adjustments to the system as people begin to use it, changes are possible.

An FAQ entry for this system has not yet been created.

The Mentions System from the Fundraiser Goals is now live!

Whenever you're making a post, if you the @ symbol followed by the first three letters of the Display Name of a member, you will see a drop down with names! Select one of them, and you will notify them automatically via PM that they were tagged!

These settings can be turned off, altered, or shifted in the Profile menu.

ALSO!

Long ago, folks liked having the avatars as a part of the recent posts tab, along with the NEW indicator. Well, we've optimized our code to be able to make use of these features again alongside the upgrade we originally brought. Enjoy!

Nexus War: Admin account has been retooled on the back-end to make handling both Forum and Nexus War admin easier.

Part of that retooling, since I will be retracting from being a player in RP, has been to merge 'The Mechanic' back into the original account.

This is a lead-in that should let us get the Cooldown System update into Nexus War much more smoothly, which in turn lets us add abilities to the game such as Movement.

Nexus War:
- A new section of the forums titled Nexus War has been created
- The Ialdon Lore and Nexus War Roleplay forum boards have been created

These boards were created to facilitate finding information regarding Nexus War and as a central location for questions and roleplay relating to Nexus War.

The actual website Nexus War module is still in development. The test server can be found here.
