@Joshmaul - Great new story! Iiiiinteresting plot twist. Can't wait to see the new character in action, or what unfolds from Malagant's brother returning.

I second this!

And Noth, just have to chirp about poor Seirion.

Lots of interesting threads coming to light!

@Orell - Really liked your latest story! It was very cinematic, almost felt like watching a scene from a film or show. Fun conclusion to the Alyonna vs. Quar storyline.

And interesting to see the scene behind the conversation last night, too!

Poor Alyonna. She'll never trust the Jedi again. Heh.

@Darshendros

Quote
"The beast's hide is too thick!" Blut said. "I have to kill it from the inside!"

"Whoa, what? Wait!" Rote replied, but it was too late. Blut was charging toward the rathtar's mouth with his beskad and the beast eagerly gobbled him up.

ROFL - laughed at this!  Been part of too many adventures (RP Chatroom events!) where someone or another ends up doing this - but it may be the first time it was fully intentional and announced ahead of time.

Love the response!  Would have been mine too... (IRL and Karmic...)

@Darshendros - Your last story post was really well-written! I liked the way you arranged the flow of the action and information. It all worked really well together. Plus, what a great Sith-y method for getting a lightsaber crystal...

Thanks for sharing some interesting Imp posts @Ryshias.  Though I'm skeptical war crimes are actually a thing in the Empire, heh.

When its against what the Empire wants - sure there are war-crimes!  Don't know that they'd call it that - just traitorous behavior.

The type of thing Moriae was tasked with handling - "protecting the Empire from WITHIN..." was part of it. We were the group to take down Darth/Sith who went against the Empire as much as any outside Force.

And we also didn't believe in in-fighting.  Rysh would have fit right in... or been a great target to go after.

*sigh*

Misuse or abuse of valuable Ministry of Logistics supplies is a war crime. Imperial citizens (and sometimes subjugates!) count as valuable supplies as long as they're not slaves, degenerates, traitors, non-humanoid aliens, in the way, a threat to operational security, disabled, or otherwise useless. Fortunately we don't have any of that "ethics" or "rules of war" nonsense like the Republic.

The Empire could also call treasonous activities war crimes if they wanted to. They are crimes, and they affect the war effort, so it works out! Doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "heresy" does though.

Others have covered the point pretty well, but just to add!

Any good authoritarian regime worth its salt would still retain the concept of a 'war crime'... the charges just aren't applied in an ethical manner. All the 'best' tyrannies in human history anchored much of their power in notions of public morality and goodness: The first emperors of Rome weren't 'emperors' at all; Romans hated kings, so the emperors were just First Citizens who loved the Republic so much that they needed all the effective power of an emperor. Kim Jong Un is a divinely perfect being from whom all goodness and virtue flow, Hitler was just exemplifying the virtuousness of German character, the Ayatollah of Iran keeps that pesky Iranian democratic fever from flirting with the 'evil West,' and so on.

Evil people and evil empires love loudly and publicly signalling how 'virtuous' they are.

That is also very true! Even if it doesn't fit the definition of war crime, a country like that could totally still use the term to make something seem morally abhorrent when necessary. And they might even have their own proprietary rules of war too, modified to suit their government's beliefs. Propaganda, yay!
