Jedi kNight: Map to the Past series

IC

Some time ago, Jedi Knight Bren Akket and his Padawan Jheva recovered a holocron sequestered away in an ice cave on Ilum, hidden some time ago from the invading Sith by its previous caretaker. Knight Akket has since spent his time studying this holocron's secrets. In doing so, he revealed an encrypted Gatekeeper protecting an ancient Jedi starmap... one leading to powerful artifacts and ancient sites of interest to both the Jedi and the Sith.

Now, with the map entirely decoded, Knight Akket calls on his fellow Jedi and their allies to help in retrieving these artifacts and investigate these sacred sites before looters or the Sith Empire discovers them first. The Jedi have a leg up with their map... but will it be enough to combat the long passage of time? Only you can decide the fates of these ancient treasures. May the Force be your compass!

And remember: "There is no ignorance, there is knowledge."

OOC

Starting this Thursday, me and Niarra will be alternating the usual briefing/philosophy Jedi Nights with archaeological treasure-hunting adventures! We will visit each point on the mysterious starmap, recovering artifacts of the Jedi, the Sith, and far stranger civilizations, overcome obstacles, and use our wits on the trail of this map. Many of these adventures will take place in the open world with a few exceptions. For inspirations, think National Treasure, Indiana Jones, and other pulpy sci-fi/adventure stories involving long forgotten relics and ruins.

The first of this series will be led by Niarra on Tatooine. This event series is an official Jedi Night adventure, and starts at the usual start time of 7:30 PM Server Time. We hope to see you all there! Shout out in RepublicOOC if you have any questions or need help getting to the event location.

If you haven't done so yet, read the first post in this thread for an intro to the series!

Event: Scouring the Sands
Time: Thursday 10/5/17 at 7:30 PM server time
Location: In-game planet of Tatooine, open world
IC Requirements: As you might expect, given that this is a Jedi Night series, your character should be a Jedi or a Jedi ally, in a position to know about the mission and be invited along.
OOC Requirements: While you don't need to be high enough level to match Tatooine (generally level 25-28 mobs), your character does need to have unlocked their personal ship so that you can either fly to Tatooine, or accept a flagship summons. The flagship summons will go out at the 7:30 pm start time. If you will be joining the event at a later time, you will need to make your way to Tatooine on your own. If you're lower level than the planet, I strongly suggest you arrive in time for the flagship summons; safety in numbers!
Rules/Rolls Set: None! Just show up and be prepared to open world RP and explore the desert.

Premise: The first artifact the team is seeking is one that the Jedi had already managed to recover once, but since lost. By cross-referencing the location in the starmap to Order records, it has been determined that this artifact had been safely kept in the archives of a Jedi enclave in the Outer Rim since before the start of the Great War. But when it became clear that sector of space was going to fall to the Imperial advance, the enclave's archives were put aboard a ship to be relocated to a more secure location. Unfortunately, the ship sustained damage after being caught in a naval ambush, and though it managed to make an emergency escape into hyperspace the ship's final transmitted logs indicate that a malfunction in the hyperdrive forced the ship to abort their jump in the Tatoo system.

The ship was never seen again, and its final fate is unknown, but one of the last messages it transmitted said that crew and valuable cargo were being ejected in emergency pods, and it spoke of possible landing coordinates on the planet Tatooine. With the war raging, however, attempts to recover the cargo were delayed, and eventually knowledge of the event slipped entirely into obscurity. Now, armed with the coordinates, it's up to the treasure hunting team to see if there's still any trail to be found, decades after the event.

The nature of the artifact itself remains mysterious. Both the starmap and the previous Jedi reports about it imply that its origins are unknown. It is described as a rod of carved stone, and its only visible markings - a stylized sun and tree - do not match any known archaeological record. Although it bears some similarities to the alchemical processes the Sith use, it is not believed to be Sith in origin. Full testing on the artifact was never completed, but the previous researchers believed it might possess healing properties. It will be up to a new team to fully discover its secrets - presuming it can be found!

Event: Cradle of the Elements
Time: Thursday 12/21/17 at 7:30 PM server time
Location: Yavin Stronghold
IC Requirements: As you might expect, given that this is a Jedi Night series, your character should be a Jedi or a Jedi ally, in a position to know about the mission and be invited along.
OOC Requirements: None. Call out in RepublicOOC chat if you are coming and need a SH invite.
Rules/Rolls Set: None.

Premise: The holocron contains records of an ancient, long-forgotten Force-using sect believed to have originated on the planet Ryloth. This sect believed the Force's power and will was made manifest most strongly in the form of the elemental energies of the galaxy, and that studying and honoring the elements and their properties was the best way to achieve insight into the Force as a whole.

No remnant of this small sect remains in the current day, but the makers of the holocron believed that the ruins of a site sacred to the sect might still exist on a remote planet, one of the few colonization attempts launched from Ryloth before that world's fortunes turned.

O'anark Ju'er: the Cradle of the Elements. If these ruins are still intact enough to shelter lost artifacts, they should be recovered before all knowledge of this ancient tradition is lost forever.
