Hey gang,

After a couple of weeks toiling around, I finally completed a starfighter-themed stronghold located on Manaan.  With all my strongholds and decos that got consildated from the merger I thought it would be a fun project to design one of them as an optional hub for starship aficionados.

I chose Manaan mainly because of its neutral, remote, open atmosphere and its moderate size, which I felt worked best for what I had in mind.  I adopted the Alliance theme so I could justify displaying starship decos from both factions.

The stronghold has the following amenities scattered throughout:  GTN, Cargo, Legacy and Guild storage bays, Appearance Modification Station, Fabricator Droids, Jawa Scrap Peddlers, Felusia Stato Deco Merchant and a Contraband Cartel Slot Machine for those who still need to grind reputation with the Contraband Resale Corporation.

I thought it would be fun to keep this stronghold exclusive and reserved for members of Begeren Colony only.  If you are interested in receiving a key please feel free to contact me and I'll get a key out to you as soon as I am able. Just let me know your character's name, which faction they belong and a general idea of when you normally log on.

GSF General / Brace for Collision

Esteemed pilots of Begeren Colony,

As we wind down the final days of our humble server and enter a new era of SWTOR, I felt it prudent to address the coming merger in regards to GSF as well as express my gratitude for being part of the unique community of pilots that once prospered here.
Back in Begeren Colony's heyday many players in our GSF community abided by a code of conduct meant to help foster an environment that encouraged fairness, respect for one's opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing. In other words: sportsmanship.  As GSF matured it became evident to most of us that the growing disparity between veteran and novice players was becoming detrimental to the long term health of our game.  In an effort to sustain morale and encourage new players we discouraged overly aggressive players from 3-capping or harassing the enemy's spawn whenever it became obvious the opposing team was too inexperienced and too overwhelmed to defend themselves.

For a long time these unofficial rules became a mainstay for GSF on our server.  While there were pockets of players on other servers like Ebon Hawk that sometimes observed them I think it gained the most traction here on Begeren.  It distinguished our server from larger, notoriously cutthroat servers like Harbinger and The Red Eclipse.  As GSF stagnated from over 3 ˝ years of Dev neglect its popularity here gradually declined leaving what remained of its beleaguered community with little choice but to move to more populated servers, thus marking the end of the age of chivalry on Begeren.

With the “United Forces” server merge just days away and Patch 5.5's long overdue overhaul to GSF finally in effect I admit I have mixed feelings of both excitement and wariness for what looms for us on the horizon.  I think most of us know the notoriety of Harbinger, but for those who have never flown there before prepare yourself for a culture shock.  While I am certainly looking forward to a substantially healthier queue with frequent pops day and night I also know that the newly formed Satele Shan server will be home to some of the absolute best and absolute worst the GSF community has to offer.  The matches there are going to be far more intense, challenging and far less forgiving than what anyone from Begeren may be used to:  highly skilled veterans, premades coordinating through voice, notoriously ruthless guilds, elitist trolls, more 12 vs. 12 matches in one day than folks from Begeren have seen in the past 2 years combined.  If I were to hazard a guess I would say that roughly 60% of the new server will be comprised of players from Harbinger with 30% from Begeren and around 10% from Bastion.  Unfortunately for us Begeren Colonists we are going to be the minority going in to our new home and I can't help but wonder how the community from Harbinger will receive us.

Regardless, I remain cautiously optimistic about the server merge and look forward to the fun and challenge that lay ahead.  At the very least it will be interesting to be reunited with some familiar names who used to fly on Begeren.  The bygone era of fair play and sportsmanship that once existed on Begeren may be over but I will always respect those players who valued its importance.

Hope to see you all in the skies.

GSF General / Devs are Seeking Feedback for GSF

Fellow Colonists,

In case you haven't heard the Dev Team posted 3 new threads on the forums this week asking the community for input on how to improve Galactic Starfighter.

If you are a Subscriber I urge all of you to join the discussion.  Even if you're not a fan of GSF this is an extremely rare opportunity for us to offer feedback and creative input to help improve this aspect of SWTOR.

Howdy gang,

I recently posted a thread on the SWTOR forums regarding some suggestions I had for Galactic Strongholds.  If you're a stronghold designer I would appreciate if you visit the following link:

Please give it a read and if it's something you agree with, I'd greatly appreciate if people comment on the thread in hopes that it'll gain some traction.

Many thanks!

Introductions / 5 Years Overdue

Greetings, fellow colonists.

Have you ever been in a situation where you had an opportunity to introduce yourself to someone, but you don't, and from that moment on every time you see them you politely wave and smile and quietly curse yourself for never bothering to learn their name, wondering how to dispel the underlying awkwardness without feeling… awkward?

Well, after 5+ years of residency on Begeren Colony I'd like to commemorate this May the 4th week by properly introducing myself.
I've been playing regularly on Begeren Colony since SWTOR's launch back in December 2011 but most of my time has been spent flying starfighters, decorating strongholds, learning how to run operations with a guild, and roleplaying with my longtime partner and collaborator, Niarra, who has since become an active member of the community.  In recent months she has recruited me to participate in a few of the community events, usually under the guise of some quirky supporting characters--something I'm all too happy to do.
I also recently had the privilege and pleasure of game mastering an adventure for Niarra and Dassalya that ended up spanning several months, and it was the first time I had an opportunity to RP in depth with another member from the community.  All of this has inspired me to start frequenting this website more.
Like many, I'm a passionate Star Wars fan and love the unique, collaborative story-telling that role playing has to offer, so I hope I'll have the opportunity to participate in more events in the future.  Begeren Colony may not be as large as other servers, but it is my home and I would like to help encourage and support the great little community that exists here.  Based on many of the posts I've read, there are many talented, imaginative and friendly people here and that makes me happy.

Outside of RP, my main source of enjoyment in the game is Galactic Starfighter.  I'm a passionate starfighter junkie and an avid supporter of GSF.  As a veteran pilot, I try my best to advocate fair play and good sportsmanship whenever possible.  I'm also a dedicated outfit designer and stronghold enthusiast and get a lot of enjoyment out of creating and designing things, especially when it involves fun and intriguing RP.  Outside of SWTOR I'm an old school table top role-player and am familiar with D&D, Palladium Books, and especially Star Wars Saga Edition, which still remains my favorite RPG system.

I look forward to participating in future events and getting better acquainted with everyone.  Thanks for reading!

Hey Everyone,

"Prize in the Skies" GSF contest is back for another round at Begeren Colony from July 25th through July 31st.  Please join us in helping to generate interest and enthusiasm for GSF and be eligible to win this month's Grand Prize, an Unstable Arbiter Lightsaber, along with some other goodies.

For a complete list of prizes and contest rules, visit

With the Dark vs. Light event currently underway the resurgence of queues on many servers clearly demonstrates the fact that players from general population will participate when given proper incentive.  I encourage experienced and skilled veterans to continue reaching out and mentoring new players, promoting GSF chat channel, and exercising discretion when flying against rookie opposition.  Everything helps.

Most of all, keep posting your desire for more GSF on the forums!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to inform all of you about a contest I'm sponsoring on Begeren Colony to coincide with my Campaign for GSF proclamation I posted on May 29th.  In order to facilitate this to the best of my ability I created a website on Enjin to host the contest.  Introducing:

"Prize in the Skies!" at

This contest is designed to motivate casual players to participate in GSF by offering prizes as an incentive to queue up.  This concept is still in its experimental stage but my hope is that it will be well received by the players on Begeren Colony.  I will be hosting another "Prize in the Skies" contest on Begeren in July as well, and may carry this contest to other servers if it gets enough traction.

Please feel free to visit the website for contest rules and more information.  It is a work in progress and will probably need some additional tweaking to get everything dialed in, but the basics are in place and the contest is now live.

Esteemed members of Begeren Colony and fans of Galactic Starfighter,

There is a potential for change in the not-too-distant future and I am appealing to all of you for your help and support in making this happen.

On Saturday, May 14th, Eric Musco held a Twitch stream that featured Michael Backus, lead technical designer for SWTOR.  Michael Backus also happens to be the lead designer for Galactic Starfighter.

I would greatly appreciate anyone leaving a comment on any of those threads lending their support to the cause.  GSF is a great mini game to play in SWTOR but it is in need of an overhaul and support from the Development team.

Your support is greatly needed and most welcome.
