Creating Website

Hello Satele Shan RPers!

It’s been awhile. I hope you’re all having some fantastic RP adventures and enjoying the new game content.

Enjin is proving to be a disappointing platform host for an RP Community website. I’m looking into creating a website for the Star Forge RP community similar to this site.

This question is directed primarily at the BC.org admin team: exactly how difficult is it to set up an RP community website using Simple Machines? Is it similar to creating websites via Enjin where they start you off with a sort of website “shell”? Are there any good guides to managing and editing sites using this platform?

Thanks so much for your assistance. May the Force be with you.

Have you and your pals come back here and save yourself the trouble? *grin*
Circled tomb of a different age
Secret lines carved on ancient stone
Heroic kings laid down to rest
Forgotten is the race that no one knows

@TrickyNick87 Simple Machines gives a forum shell that's basic but functional. BC.org is heavily customised to the point where it's not compatible with Simple Machines updates any longer. If you use Simple Machines you can have a functional forum but will have to do more work to make it unique.

The more important part is that you must have a server to host your forums databases and files, which is where the majority of the costs of keeping this site up comes from. This site is hosted via GoDaddy.

Hope this helps!
